I have long recognized that the entire trans rights movement is no more than a men's movement in drag. Transmaidens who support this are shooting themselves in the foot. It is no surprise that young women feel the only way they can escape our hypersexualized culture is to pretend to be men. And speaking as a woman, there is nothing irrational in not wanting to be erased: https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/im-not-transphobic-you-are-normaphobic
Ofc! A 'movement' brought on by queer and feminist theory is really just one more just one more extantiation of the all encompassing, always oppressive 'Patriarchy'. Got it.
The lengths so many women go to avoid any accountability, about anything, is just remarkable.
I agree with much of what you say Nassim. A fabulous, much needed article. (By the way, I am the co-creator of Women’s Declaration International. ) What I find deeply disturbing about many gender critical feminists, however, is their demonisation of Muslims and support for Israel. This is a totally unexpected response, from my view, which demonstrates a white imperialist feminism that I hadn’t fully grasped previously. So although the GC movement picks up the second wave feminist critique of gender it also hollows out its earlier fiery resistance by evacuating any larger politics from discussion. I’m finding the lack of nuance almost unbearable now. So, well done for bringing it back in.
Thank you so much for your comment and for the work you do.
I actually hesitated to include the sentence “I would wager that most gc feminists still consider themselves somewhere on the left” because there have been such strong contingents of racist, pro-Israel, right-wing, and general “bash the left” type voices in online feminist spaces. But I suspect that while these are the loudest voices (for example, one pro-Israel fanatic on Ovarit was literally the top commenter, as she was there all day every day), the movement is not homogenous. I figure that “somewhere” on the left is probably still accurate, since many see themselves as leftist (e.g. Dems in the US) while also supporting Israel and/or demonizing Muslims.
But regardless, you are right to point out that unlike 2nd wave feminism, the gc movement is not inscribed in broader leftist resistance movements. I was ambivalent and apprehensive about going to the WDI USA conference last year, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was more political diversity than I anticipated, and having recently gotten back onto twitter, I am also connecting with pro-Palestinian feminists there. But of course, none of this undoes the damage that has been and continues to be done by the feminists who condone and propagandize for the genocide.
I have been very troubled by the gc feminist support of Israel's genocide against Gaza. They appear to have no understanding of geopolitics and they often mindlessly repeat hasbara talking points. It's as if they think there are no Palestinian women. I am reminded again of how politically homeless I am.
I agree, and I would add that sometimes the parroting of hasbara talking points isn't mindless. I suspect that there are paid shills, which is common in online spaces and especially important in feminist spaces, since feminism is a key marketing point of this genocide.
Yes it's gross how the deaths and torture of Palestinian women and children don't matter, and to add insult to injury, some of these women turn around and claim that THEY are the ones who care about Muslim women.
Thank you. I hope people can start to see past the biases and double standards so that we can turn back the tide. It is finally turning somewhat, at last, but much of the left still has blinders on.
With correct naming of the problem comes a handle to fight it - 4 words:
men compulsively imitating women.
In biology it’s unusual but as natural as homosexuality, easy to find: it’s called sexual mimicry.
Once it’s understood as a natural biological behavior you can’t “unsee” it and the human version - “trans” and “gender” part become ordinary animal behavior.
I nature some males cheat when there is competition for sex. They appear female to avoid male social competition. They appear female to avoid male sexual competition. And they rely on females to comply with deception. It happens in sunfish, lizards, wolves, turtles, lizards, red deer, grey porpoises, seabirds, beetles and humans to name a few.
It humans, just as animals, it’s usually a man and a compulsion, avoiding men and persuading women to go along with it.
“Gender” is a word promoted to conceal sex, primarily by those with the compulsion and those they’ve recruited to enable them.
Finally, all teens are nervous about becoming adults.
You were nervous too, remember?
There are vast amounts of science research on the subject. But we are told there isn’t by psychiatry. Why?
Thank you! There was more I wanted to say, but Heather Brunskell-Evans said it for me. Thank you too Heather, for standing against genocide. I personally can't stomach the GC movement anymore, it was one thing when we disagreed about politics, that's natural. But the open support of slaughtering children, is a bridge too far. I read this article and I could feel the excitement of shared values, of someone who "got it", and then I remembered, there is no place for me here either.
It's hard to stomach. I used to avoid ovarit for weeks or months at a time, then I'd scroll in a moment of boredom, only to see some racist take and leave again. But on r/gc there were more diverse voices, and ovarit went more to the right in a vicious circle of people leaving the forum, while the more extreme voices stayed and commented all the time. There was definitely some pro-Israel shilling going on.

I agree! A regressive movement was marketed as progressive... and easy as that, self-identified progressives bought into it.

Nassim, this is excellent.
Many thanks!

Brilliant article to be shared

Truly excellent analysis. Thank you.
Brilliant.
Thank you. 🙏
Wow, excellent. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!

A slur and also nonsense, since we don't exclude trans people. All for excluding men from women's spaces though.
Great article! So far-reaching and articulate.
A sobering piece.
